Before JJ Soul Band, Kormaksson used to play in dance bands.
In the recent years he has occupied himself more with songwriting and has to this day
9 LP's / CD's to his credit.
Altogether; he's had more than 100 of his compositions (soft-jazz/latin-pop) recorded by various artists around the world.
Together, Kormaksson & Soul have received world wide recognition for their songwriting talents.
Their song, "CITY LIFE" received 1. prize in the R&B / Jazz category of the
USA Songwriting Competition in 1997. Another song "WATCH OUT" (Hungry for News, 1994) received 2. prize in the 4th
Hastings International Songwriting Contest, 1996. Most recently, a song by Kormaksson & Soul "CAN´T WAIT A LIFETIME",
received Honor Awards from
The Great American Song Contest, 2000.
Ingvi has also received achievement awards from
UNISONG (1998 and 2001) for his instrumental songs "WHEN YOU ARE NEAR" and "THE MIRROR".
The former also received honor awards in the
USA Songwriting Competition 2001, with still another, "I ALMOST TOUCHED YOU" as a finalist ...
